St. Joseph Plantation is proud to present its Annual “Mourning Tour” featuring the mourning customs and rituals of 19th Century Creole Louisiana. The tour runs from October 1st through November 3rd . The plantation home is dressed in full “deep mourning”. Black crepe drape and wreath adorn the front doors. Pianos and organ are closed; mirrors covered, white candles and flowers accentuate the black draped coffin which is placed in the main hall as was the old Creole custom of home visitation. Each room of the plantation home is decorated according to these prescribed customs.
Poché Plantation, a New Orleans Plantation Country Attraction, is hosting its3rd Annual Plantation Arts and Crafts Festival on October 22nd - 23rd. Top arts and crafts vendors will gather on the grounds of the historic property offering a broad range of products including artwork, jewelry, candles and Cajun/Creole cuisine.
Laplace, LA (September 1, 2016) - The 43rd Annual St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival will be held Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Thomas F Daley Memorial Park. The festival is an exhiliarating celebration of savory foods that feature andouille, performing arts, outdoor entertainment, crafts, and activities for the entire family. A Jazz Brunch and Run/Walk wi ll also take place on the Sunday morning of the festival.
